– 350 gr of flour
– 150 gr of brown sugar
– 120 gr of Olive Oil
– 150 gr of honey
– 1 egg
– 2 teaspoons of cinnamon
– 2 teaspoons of ginger
– ½ teaspoon nutmeg
– ½ teaspoon of cloves
– salt
– Baking soda
– icing sugar
– colorant (your choice)


To prepare the Christmas cookies you can proceed with the help of a mixer or by hand. Pour the flour into the mixer bowl or onto a work surface, making sure you have a little extra to go with the process. Add the spices, brown sugar and a pinch of salt. Add the Basso Olive Oil and begin to knead the dough. Add the egg and honey to the dough and continue working until the mixture becomes harder. On the work surface, roll out the extra flour and knead the mixture again, until it forms a ball with a very soft consistency. Let it rest in the fridge for about 2 hours and proceed to make the cookies after rolling the dough to a thickness of half an inch. Cut the dough, helping yourself with a glass or pasta cutters with a particular shape. Bake at 180 ° C for about 12 minutes and let it cool out of the baking pan. In the meantime, you can prepare the icing using powdered sugar and water until you obtain a thick icing. To this, you can add coloring as desired for an even more stunning effect!
